New little princess to love

The weekend of Feb 13th there was a huge severe ice storm in Ga. Annie was pregnant with Suzanne and was overdue. So Annie and I went to the mall and walked on Friday. Then that Friday night there was a snowstorm and at 4:50 am I heard a scream. I thought it was Tahlayne and I was going to wait and see if she was going to go back to sleep. BUT when I heard the scream again I realized it was Annie. I jumped out of bed and ran to her room. She was laying/ sitting on the bed and her water had broke. I told her I had to get her to the hospital and ran to get dressed. I sent Dante' to help her get to the car. He came back and said Annie couldn't move and was in too much pain, he couldn't get her to the car. So at 5:05 am I called 911 and asked them to send an ambulance to our house cause my sister in law was in labor. while on the phone I told Annie that I needed to check her to see how far along she was. I looked and the head was already crowning when she would have a contraction, I told the 911 lady that the ambulance wouldn't get her in time and she was already crowning and that we would be delivering a baby. The 911 operator sounded a little nervous and said OK! I got towels from Dante and tried to elevate Annie which when doing this she screamed out in pain. I tried to hold her legs and help her breath and push while she was having contractions. She started to tear and I informed the 911 operator. She told me to try and push on the area that was tearing but that was not working. I had to get Annie to hold her own legs and try and push while I stretched her out the best I could. The ambulance was still on Barrett pkwy stuck due to the ice and frozen roads. I would ask the operator questions and she was reading from a script cause she would ask me to hold on and then try and give me an answer. She really didn't know much more than me! LOL!! =0) When the babies head came out it was bright blue, my heart sank and I didn't feel a pulse in the head. I was afraid she was not breathing! I told the 911 operator that I wasn't sure if she was alive or not. BUT that I needed to get her out right away! I poked the babies face with my finger and she squinted her face and her eye up, yeah she WAS alive and I told the operator that she was alive and would be fine! I tried to get Annie to push during contractions but Annie said she didn't feel any contractions now that the babies head was out!! So I asked the operator if she should push anyways or wait till she felt a contraction the operator pretty much said she didn't know! So, I decided that she should keep pushing. I had to hold her legs up and push on her stomach and try to get the babies shoulders out. Once one shoulder was out the rest of her body followed. I held myself together pretty much till right at that point! I was soo relieved that she was alive and out and ok that I burst into tears. I was crying, Annie was crying and sweet baby Suzanne was crying!! That was one of the best moments of my life right there! =0) I sent Dante' to get shoelaces and a new towel. I tied off the cord in 2 places and held baby Suzanne and kissed her sweet little face. Annie was still in alot of pain due to the delivery and NO drugs!
Finally the ambulance showed up and came in. They cut the cord and delivered the placenta. I got to spend a few minutes with Suzanne and Dante' got to hold her too. Then Annie got to hold her for the first time. I had tried to get Annie to hold her before the ambulance came, but she was in shock and in way too much pain. We went to the hospital on very frozen and slippery black ice!! The dr. told me I did a great job and I was very proud of Annie for her courageous delivery!

Baby Suzanne Rufaro Ruredzo was delivered at 836 sunset crt, acworth, ga. 30102 at 5:30 am on Feb 13th, 2010 by Cassie Cottrell Ruredzo. She weighed 6lbs 7 oz and was 18 inches long.

Our house was listed as the place of birth and I was listed as the person who delivered her on her birth certificate! Isn't that soo cool! =0)
